I was became interested in joining Professional Concern after I had written to Valerie Shelton expressing my interest in her letter dated 20 September 2010 to the Derby Evening Telegraph. Valerie Shelton had written a letter to the newspaper in response to an article entitled, ‘Would Florence Nightingale have got the job these days?’, which sparked my interest.
As a recently retired
nurse, I fully agreed with the principles set out in Valerie Shelton’s
letter, which reflected my own training during the mid-1960s when we were
encouraged to emulate the values of Florence Nightingale.
